a/n: written about "Footsteps" by Pearl Jam. If you have a chance, listen to that song before reading this.
Be Your Tattoo
I'd like to bury those scratches reinvent you scarf your neck when you're cold
but you're still sad thinking of her.
the way her hair used to fall on your shoulder and how her tears would roll down your cheeks in a wintered summer on a back porch
somewhere, I was listening to all your warmth sheltering her how she never loved you
and how I always did.
keep breathing, I will trademark this air in your name, I will claim this for you.
let go of all those voices staining promises of loneliness inside your head they will disappear dissipate within my arms when I hold you
I wish you could have known before your hurt from her.
I will give you the sand and you can make me footprints you can be the frames inside my mind
there is no one else that can hold you the way you held her but me
and I'd like to heal those scratches still stepping on your hands like faded photographs and empty reasons
I'd like to have loved you before your sadness and hurt by her.
but I can still love you just as much if you let go of your shadows and footstep into me.

Laura, this is amazing doll. I have to say this is one of my favorites by you honestly. There isn't one part I can pick out that could use work because it's perfect LoL. Footsteps is a steller song, as you know I am also a huge fan of Pearl Jam. My favorite parts I think are :
"I'd like to bury those scratches reinvent you scarf your neck when you're cold"
The idea of being the scarf around someone's neck when their cold is a real devotion to me, it's very sweet.
"keep breathing, I will trademark this air in your name, I will claim this for you."
This was also very sweet.
I can't say this enough, I love everything your poetry stands for. I can relate to this piece so much right now and I'm sure a lot of other people can as well.

Wow. "somewhere, I was listening to all your warmth sheltering her how she never loved you and how I always did. keep breathing, I will trademark this air in your name, I will claim this for you." I love that part. But this whole thing is really nice. You do great when you're writing about Pearl Jam

i'm a great fan of the message of this piece. unfortunately, i'm not able to listen to the track. it's very touching. i'm not too sure of the last line: but overall this was a great piece. it's amazing how one can be inspired by a song huh? i haven't had that happen to me in awhile.

"like faded photographs and empty reasons"
.....Love the wording here.
Fantastic job, Laura - as usual. You have such a unique style and way with words that I adore. This is great. I can't even explain why I like it, I just do....wonderful.
