A bit of a depressing topic but still a somewhat funny thing to think about. What will happen to your site when you die? Have you set up any processes to ensure the site doesn't just die out?

I'm sure my site will flop the moment I am no longer around, but I do have a Will set up to ask someone to ensure my site gets into the proper hands. If my Will is carried out or not is another matter but not one for my dead soul

That's good to hear that you actually have a plan for it. At the moment, I don't have any for DH so that's not great because if something were to happen, it would end up going down after a month or two.

Might want to make some kind of plan, DH is going pretty well for it to go under because life got ugly.

Yeah, I mean, I have a silent partner/co-owner so I should probably just let him know about what to do in case something goes wrong.

Good to know I'm not the only one with someone like that

Good to know I'm not the only one with someone like that I had no idea GamingLatest has one. Are you allowed to tell us who it is ? It's HungryEgo on DH who likes to pop by from time to time. The only admin on DH so I guess that was obvious.

Checked out your site...you've got a pretty good one going over there. I try my best to get people to join mine, but it's kind of static at this point. Any secrets I should know?

Just making sure that users can have a good time on the forum by offering a good selection of forums and features. We also got a bit lucky with a great core of users that are active regularly which encourages others to post more as well.

I have cards that I hand out to invite people on, but still no luck.
Feel free to drop by and have a look.

What's Atlantic Computing services by the way? It's obviously not the reason why people aren't joining but a smaller, more refined logo might be better. I think focusing more on advertising online might help as well, most people that spend time on forums are online and you're less likely to find them by giving out cards.

I think focusing more on advertising online might help as well, most people that spend time on forums are online and you're less likely to find them by giving out cards. ACS is my company. The original idea of the forum was as a place for my customers to go and discuss their computers and technological devices, but it very quickly gained a social element which really superseded the tech aspect. Both of them co-exist quite nicely, so I never saw any need to separate things... And the reason I don't advertise online is that I'd rather get people to be my customers than get people on the forums, since the former makes me money and the latter does not - except when they then go to ACS and hire me. Again - initially, I was acting on the idea that people were sick of Twitter and similar sites, since they'd complain about them a great deal...but then no one would actually leave the sites they were supposedly complaining about to join the Forums. They would just say that they forgot about it. I'm in the process of writing an Android app for the Forums, but that's going to take a bit of time...

If that's your aim, I think it's probably wise to not compare it too much to other general discussion forums. The problem is that the people that use your company might not be the target market for a social forum.

Well, most every forum I've seen involves a general discussion area, and it usually gets as much traffic as the principal area.

I think I will give away my sites to my kid, nephew, and niece before I am too old to manage the sites. I decided to give away my sites to the kids in my family when I read an article from Namecheap where it said websites are your digital assets.

These forums are virtual worlds. More times than not we don’t know who the others are. I saw this in another forum (but have seen it in the past), people were concerned for an active member that stopped logging on. I have down my forum, emails, passwords, etc. for my husband & for my mom to have in case anything happens to me, the friends I made online will know. I also have written down specific people they could go to to shut down my forum or put in Maintenance Mode if I'm not going to die but not able to be on for awhile either. We also have down our bank, bills, even for our pets, their food, vet, etc. My mom feels the same way I do & we update each other often.
