Ayurveda is one of the popular healing methods in Traditional Indian Medicine. The tradition of Ayurveda is at lest 5000 years old as it is mentioned in the Hindu Books of Vedas. Even though Modern Medicine has frequently criticized Ayurveda for the lack of research, Ayurveda is much older than Modern Medicine and has a proven record to curing diseases since ages.

I'm not certain what it is... is it more like a mental approach to healing or more nutrition based? I get confused when people start saying alternative medicine to modern medicine... is it the pill form that makes it more modern?

I'm guessing it must be some kind of meditation or herb mixture?

My definition of alternative vs modern medicine is how they approach it. Alternative focuses on the whole body. Modern, just on the symptom. If you treat just the symptom without getting to the root of the problem, you'll never get better. I've researched Ayurveda before, as well as many other alternative medicines. It's based off of 3 dosha types- vata, kapha, pitta. While I never subscribed to the dosha types, I had learned a lot about keeping healthy. Some use it as a stand-alone for health, others in association with conventional modern medicine. For those who are into Ayurveda, do you use it alone or combine it with others?
