Jogging, walking, cycling, swimming, dancing, yoga are low impact exercises. Weight lifting, push-ups, sit-ups, crunches, squat etc. are High Intensity Interval Training or HIIT. If you want lose weight, if you want to get into a shape, HIIT can be very beneficial. However, if you want to be healthy and remain fit, low impacy exercise can be a better option.

I slightly disagree with the latter statement that if you want to be healthy and remain fit you don't necessarily just have to do low impact exercise. Of course any type of exercise is better than none. It's ok to mix the two and the important thing is to do these exercises in moderation but it helps to stay consistent and vary the types to keep your body guessing.

I used to do both when I was younger. Now that I'm older, it's a bit of a struggle to maintain HIIT workouts. The body & joints fight with me on this one lol I've always been taught that it's 80% nutrition, 20% exercise to get fit. Exercise is vital but what you eat is more important. Someone can do a marathon but if they eat fast food all the time, they won't be fit nor healthy.
