What do you guys think about tipping at restaurants or even food stores where you order a take away?
Do you always tip or do it based on the level of service you receive?

I always tip. As someone who waited tables as one of my earliest jobs, I know just how underpaid wait staff is. Plus, here in the US, it is entirely legal and even expected that servers/tipped staff are paid below minimum hourly wage. If it's bad service, I'll only tip 10-15% but for good service I tip closer to 20%. I also always leave a dollar or at least some change at takeout places. They are still preparing my food for me.

I didn't tip most of my life due to lack of money, but now that I make some decent money, I did start tipping finally.

Honestly, it's a bit of a joke that tipping has allowed restaurants to pay their staff less money. I couldn't imagine that happening over here in the UK.

That does suck, I feel for the workers and wish they get better wages. Maybe this pandemic will lead to that.

It's a problem too because it seems to create a few entitled employees. I've seen way too many stories of delivery drivers or servers insisting that tips are given no matter how bad the service was.

Bad service at the most will get a buck from me unless really bad then nothing.

To add to this, what's with some platforms asking for a tip before they even deliver the product. Uber Eats does this and it's very annoying.

A few of the delivery companies do it over here. It's not the end of the world since you can just skip it and tip at the end as well. But it's very weird that they think anyone would want to tip before they receive their order.
