Have you ever burned anything while cooking? If so how bad was it and the smell in the air?

I have burnt a few things in the oven. Mainly because I tried to keep something in there for a bit longer and then totally forgot to check up on it. Nothing too bad but not always great to have to eat a burnt thing.

I've gotten close to over cooking a pizza a few times, otherwise I'm pretty good. Oh I did burn popcorn once while testing out something.

The worst thing to burn is pizza for me. Having to eat a crispy pizza where the cheese is not "stringy" is no fun.

Unless it is the only thing to eat, burnt pizza is a throw away for me.

How burnt are we talking? Like this or just more extreme cases like this?

Both are bad, but closer to the extreme case, the first one looks salvageable.

I felt so bad burning a whole tray of bacon one morning. I rarely ever curse but I actually did that day because everyone was eagerly waiting for the bacon but I got side tracked and burned them all. There was no salvaging the charred bacon.
