My brother taught me how to play when I was like 5. I wish I could say that I became this prodigy like something off of a movie but nope I just learned how to do the moves. It wasn't until middle school I started to play others my age for fun when I joined a chess club. I remember walking into the room and everyone's heads turned to me even the sponsor of the club with a look like "Are you lost?" lol I remember saying that I'm here for the chess club and I can see the confusion on all of the guys faces. They quickly realized that I could hold my own and the goal of chess club then became "who can beat the girl?" lol (No one did). I ended up playing again in high school, where a few girls had joined but sure enough the majority of players were guys. I saw Queens Gambit on Netflix some months back that got me itching to play again but I just don't know anyone locally that I can play with.
Do you play chess?

Thanks to a co-worker I'm spending too much time on chess.com these days, and got addicted to this person as well: www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPf09TZhvaMthough I mostly play bots instead of people.

I love playing chess, and usually have a couple of matches with my friends a couple of times a week. I'm not very good, but I really enjoy playing it with those who are more or less on level with me.

It used to be one of my main interests (indeed, my first forum was devoted to it), but it eventually fell by the wayside, as things sometimes do.

I had it set up where people would post their next move but there was some push back by some members claiming that people could be cheating using computer to predict the best next move. The activity eventually died down and I ended up giving up on the project. I wonder if the forum is still up...

That sounds rather interesting, what was the name of the forum?

It was called "Chess Resources Forum". It was decently active - although, very few people posted about chess, and it essentially ended up as a general forum!!!
