I got an activity kit the other day to do with my toddler. In theory it sounded like a good idea because it was rock painting that only used water so no paint involved whatsover. I was thinking yay less clean up! ...because it required tracing and cutting and precision in applying I ended up doing most of the work while my 3 year old supervised lol. Next time I will have her just have fun with paint!

When it comes to that sort of thing for kids, it does tend to be either a lot of work for you or a huge mess. There's no in between, lol.

We did rock painting, its mostly just swipes and they're done. We end up putting the rocks in the garden, the paint washes off and we reuse. Its a cheap simple thing to do, unless they knock the pain on the floor or start wiping their hands on everything lol.

When it gets warmer out you can do rock painting outside with shaving cream out on the driveway or sidewalk. Or you can have your child just paint the sidewalk with it. It will "clean" the area that is painted so be prepared to fill in the entire area at the end if you don't want the artwork to be saved until it gets dirtied up again.
