If your car were to break down, do you think you could fix it? Are you mechanically inclined enough to repair even a simple flat tire?
Myself? I have a very basic knowledge of engines, so I can fix some basic things, but the more involved repair work? No chance! My sister, however, she LOVES to work on cars, trucks, anything. She gets in there and repairs basically anything that goes wrong. She's even rebuilt an engine from the bottom up! How about you, are you mechanically inclined?

Sad to say, I'm not. Even though my dad was a self-taught mechanic & worked on all our vehicles along with his brother. My husband knows the basics & is a fast learner. That is one thing on my Bucket List- to learn more things.

It depends on the issue. I've done entire brake replacements, including the line (which is an absolute pain), replaced the muffler set, various belts repairs, oil changes, and of course general maintenance. The biggest issue I usually have is a lack of the proper tools. For that reason, I tend to just take my cars for repair. When I still lived near my sister and brother-in-law, I'd just take it to him as he's a mechanic. Now, I have a lease, so I just take it to the dealership.

I am NOT mechanically inclined. If I didn't have my husband, I probably would be paying too much on regular car maintenance and repairs.

I might be able to pop the hood and see whats wrong, but thats about it. I doubt I could fix anything.

Not at all. I mean, as Demon mentioned, I can pop up the hood and try to figure out what the problem is. Unless it's something extremely simple, I'm going to have trouble sorting it out by myself.

I wish I had the gumption to get in there and learn how to do things. I know a decent amount, but I'm far from being a mechanic of any level. I've replaced some belts with my sister, done an oil change or two, but that's about it. I'm useless with the rest of it.

I think it depends on the level of involvement and how accessible information is on how to do something. I don't think I could fix something major with my car--nor would I want to--but I've looked up a video on how to remove the fan blower so I could check mine when it started making noise.
