I went to the American Academy of Art in Chicago and did portraits of pets and peoples for a long time as a business. I never got rich, of course! When my daughter was in high school, I became a substitute teacher so we could have the same days off and I still made money. I subbed for the art classes a lot because other subs were afraid to touch that subject.
For this piece I wanted to quickly show the students that you could draw a person of color without using the color brown! I did this in colored pencils and charcoal. No brown pencil was used!
Edited to add that the person is a journalist from a magazine the teacher had laying around.

Wow! This is really impressive! You're so talented! That's amazing that you were able to use other colors other than brown and present such features. You did this by just looking at a picture from a magazine? That's so cool!
