Just curious to know when it comes to reading which is your preferred type?

I’m a paperback girl myself. I love a good hardcover for collection purposes but I just find it more comfortable reading paperbacks. They are also lighter, so much easier to carry around in my bag.

I do enjoy paperback and hardcovers, but digital makes it awfully convenient.

If it's between paperback or hardcover, I normally get the paperback version because it's cheaper than getting the hardcover. There are some cases where I'll buy the hardcover edition of a book when it first comes out because I can't wait for the paperback version to come out.
I do go digital as I have a Kindle Fire. My Kindle makes it nice because I can take a bunch of literature with me when I'm traveling and it doesn't take up a lot of room in my carry on bag. So I make sure I have plenty of books on my Kindle so that I have plenty to read while I travel. Sometimes I still read on my Kindle when I'm at home because the screen on my Kindle lights up and I can see it better. If I'm laying in bed and don't want to disturb my hubby while he's sleeping, I can still read on my Kindle and not have all the lights on in the room.

I enjoy paperback, more nimble in a way, though I don't mind digital for mass amounts of books.

Paperback, easy to hold and to carry as well as store. And of course the price is easier to bear as well.

Paperback because it's usually small and weighs less therefore it's a lot easier to hold and carry around. Plus, it's usually cheaper than the hardcover version of the book which is great.

Hardcovers aren't getting a lot of love. They tend do be more expensive than paperbacks as well. The library tends to have hardcovers available which makes sense because they probably last longer than paperbacks.

Still a paperback girl. I do love the look and feel of hardcover books, but for convenience sake, paperback just wins it. I also really love that a well-loved paperback will actually show signs of use more than a hardcover. That may be weird but I feel like where hardcovers are more resilient (and beautiful for it), with paperbacks you can see more of the (more recent at least) history of its being loved.

That's a very good point! You can definitely tell when a book is well loved. Are you the type to also write notes or highlight parts?

There's certain books, like the first edition Wuthering Heights I read every Christmas that are essentially sacred and therefore never to be written in but many others get the margin notes/underlining/highlighting treatment.

I prefer physical books over e-books for one. I try to opt for hardcovers when possible for the simple fact that, while they are more expensive, they last longer than the paperbacks I have. I have several guides for my state in paperback & wish they had come in hardcover. The binding is being torn away, covers ripped. I’d recommend hardcovers if people are going to use the book often, like the guides.

To be fair, I would probably go for hardcover as well if they were the same price. They look really nice on a bookshelf. I understand why it's more expensive but sometimes the price difference is absurd.
