Does anyone here take any interest in the night sky or stars? Do you like gazing at them at night time?

I really should do this more often because it's definitely relaxing. I live in a neighborhood with many trees so it's difficult to have an open view of the sky at night. At some point I'd like to go camping someplace and share the experience of seeing just sky as far as the eye can see. The last time I remember seeing this was as a kid when I was visiting the Philippines.

I'll glance up at them from time to time, but I'm not one to star gaze often.

I do like looking up at the stars, although I don't do it nearly as much as I would like to. When I went to Big Bend National Park, the whole reason to go was because the spectacular night sky. It was amazing. The stars dont hold any supernatural meaning for me though.

I could spend hours just looking up at the sky and enjoying the sight of the moon and stars. Unfortunately, we don't get a massive chance to since we live in the city and we don't get to enjoy clear skies all the time.

Like admiring the twinkles or are you deep in thought?

Makes me feel small and insignificant. But it also serves to remind me that there is a creator.

We live in the country so the stars are easily visible compared to the Chicagoland area where we used to live! It's amazing how bright they are and meteor showers are fun to watch.
I think I only know how to pick out the dippers but I should really learn about the others too so I can impress guests who come to stay!

This is my type of thread! I have a Celestron Nexstar 8SE Telescope with a Go-To. I have a folder where I put in all the Constellations available & study daily the stars as well as how to pronounce. I get outside as often as I can. We live rural on 10 acres so I’m fortunate to be able to see many stars, including some of the Milky Way. Unfortunately, we do have light pollution from the city so the Milky Way isn’t as pronounced as it would be in other areas.

Some nights I'll look up and just find myself in awe of how bright and beautiful the stars and moon are. It's really amazing. I remember the first time I was around a big city at night and how shocking it was to look up and see absolutely nothing due to the amount of light pollution there was... we have some here, but nothing like that.
