My roommate is a member, but I haven't been since I was a student and had it for $39. The free shipping is nice and all, but $99 is kind of ridiculous, especially since anything on their streaming services I can find elsewhere (On Demand or on Netflix for example).

I once glanced at the movie options on Amazon's streaming service but I noticed that Netflix had a lot of a selection. The increase in price is the reason why we will probably not renew next year.

On the bright side... I don't think the cost of membership has increased much since this increase! Ah just double checked and it went up by $19.

I think covid has helped with that, though once it is over I can see it going up again. The cost is becoming a bit too high though.

Had a few free trials of Amazon Prime over the years but I don't pay for the service. I don't order enough from them to justify the price especially since they deliver anything for free to the local Amazon lockers.

I keep forgetting to cancel my Prime subscription so I've basically had it unintentionally for years because it renews and then I just figure "why bother cancelling now, I'll cancel before the next billing cycle" and then I forget. Rinse and repeat.
