OpenOffice.org www.openoffice.org/Awesome Software 5 out of 5 Currently running on a PC without Microsoft Word, Excel, etc? Even though most PC's have Microsoft Works pre-installed there are some of us that are wanting a better (cost-effective) alternative. If you haven't heard of OpenOffice check out the website and give it a go! OpenOffice is an excellent alternative for those who are familiar but have no access to Microsoft office. By the way... it's 100% FREE. I haven't had any problems with the software. I did have a research paper and for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to add page numbers to the header (without having to manually plug it in) ...but with a quick search on google with "open office header page number" I found my answer in the second result listing.

Never tried OpenOffice but I have tried WPS Office. The free options are definitely good enough if you don't have MS Office. Thankfully, I get MS 365 for free from Uni.

I used OpenOffice for years whenever I didn’t have Microsoft office. In more recent years though I’ve found myself using Google docs and sheets.

I've used it a few times, it's not a bad alt to office if you don't want to push money out for it.

I haven't tried out Google Docs in a long time but do they let you download it as an app yet? I like it but there's just something about a web app that makes it a bit weird to use.
