Years ago I used to think that PC's were better because they hold more. (space, drives, etc) but nowadays I know they make laptops with the same features you would get with a PC. Still, I wonder... are laptops better than PC's? ..and are those few extra hundred dollars worth paying for a laptop. What do you guys think?

Although I would love to have a laptop so I could write anywhere (I can type faster than I write so I can get things out quicker on the computer), PCs are better. I don't know why.

Yeah, I'm all about the PC. Laptops would be good, but I don't think I'd be able to take good notes on them. Plus I can't do all my fun doodles .

i've got a laptop (a pretty old Compaq) one. i don't use it very much since it can't really go online or anything. i'm assuming it will come in handy when college rolls around for notes and such. i was debating whether or not i should invest in a new laptop for college but i think i'm just gonna end up trying to upgrade this one. then again parts and such are usually more expensive to replace compared to PC parts. eh, i guess i haven't completely decided yet.

I want a laptop ... I would use it all the time for writing and if it had the internet ... I would be on it all the time playing interactive online gameshows from GSN.com haha. I want a new computer first. I want an ipod too and that's expensive

I have both, I have a PC at home and a laptop for Uni (which is where I am atm) It has a wireless network card ^_^ my old laptop was really great had a dvd writer and all the rest of that awesomeness. But the screen went odd and when my dad tried to fix it he pulled out a load of dust and it hasn't worked since. it was MAGIC dust I tells ya! *cough* so yes I have a new one, but it's cheaper incase something goes wrong- that and I'm skint cos Uni is so expensive.

I have both, and it's conveniant. They both have completely different uses for me. I use my desktop PC for downloading large files, such as T.V seasons or 12 gig anime shows. My PC is more for Entertainment.
The laptop is more for work, so I can do it anywhere. Especialy on trips, I tend to take road trips and retreats alot. They both have their goodnesses.

I have a laptop now and like them both for different reasons. I like a regular keyboard and mouse over the laptop ones anytime but you can sit anywhere and comfortably with a laptop

When I first started this thread over three years ago (hehe that's kind of weird saying!) I was definitely for desktops.
Now that I own my own laptop, I totally understand the convenience. I agree with Laura as far as being able to sit anywhere comfortably. This particular laptop cost me double the amount I paid for my former desktop but I'm willing to say it doubles the features, convenience, and peace of mind.
I do believe it varies from person to person...and what their needs are in a computer.

I've got a laptop. The storage for laptops is just about as good as a PC these days and you can always have an external hard drive or a cloud storage account. So there really isn't reason not to have a laptop.

I no longer have a desktop, just my laptop. I would like to get a gaming pc at some point in the near future though and it's a bit cheaper to go the desktop route, so I may be going back to both down the line here.

Laptops are awesome, especially my apple mac air. I was always fed up with windows updating every 5 minutes and gaining viruses so easily. Last year I decided after careful consideration, to invest in an apple mac air and have never looked back. Such as a lightweight device and does everything I want it too without crashing

I no longer have a desktop... I've got two laptops one is the Samsung QX10 and the other Macbook Pro 13" Retina. My husband wants to build a desktop someday. I'm telling him we aren't going to do that until we get a bigger home. The thing is with desktops you have to dedicate a certain amount of space for it. Laptops you can tuck away easily and take it with you.

It all depends on what you need to do with your PC. I prefer a PC over a laptop mostly because I like to game and doing that on a laptop is nowhere near as much fun as on a desktop that is made for gaming.

I have a powerful desktop that i do all my work from. I have it connected to the internet so i can access it from anywhere using VNC. The desktop is hidden somewhere and i connect to it using a laptop that i bought for $150 and hold the battery for about 4 hours so i think its a hybrid

Am I really still using the same laptop I've had 7 years ago?? lol It does not feel obsolete so will probably still hang on to this Macbook - I wonder if I can make it last a decade!

I honestly prefer the Desktop. My husband uses the Laptop for his own use but he doesn’t get on the computer too much. What’s to like? The Desktop has a bigger screen, it’s on a desk (lol) so it’s easier on the body where you aren’t just slouching on the couch or bed. I can’t imagine using that small keyboard to type. I use an ergonomic keyboard & mouse otherwise my wrists will be hurting.

Laptop for me, to be honest. I have an HP Envy x360 and I just love it. The touch screen is great and the fact I can turn it into a tablet is really nice too. Laptops are just easier to use and manage especially with the ability to take it anywhere you want

Ten year old laptop with a touch pad. I have always used laptops because they take up so little room on my desk. If I need to write something by hand, I merely fold the thing down and write on top of it. Repairs are so easy with a laptop as they can be carried to the repair shop in a tote bag with a shoulder strap.

At this point, I primarily use my desktop. I upgraded to a gaming PC near the beginning of the pandemic. I do also have a cheap Chromebook that I literally never use at this point. Anything on the go, I just use my iPad for it.
