[glow=purple,2,300]no problem... it's definitely worth a read. looking at the preview... i get so excited because i can recognize the similarities and what not. ...like her eyes, that's like one of her main attributes, it's very cool you should definitely read the book when you get a chance.[/glow]

Who is the author? I'm going to look for it next time I'm at the library (which is like never but oh well).

Haha, those large print books are actually harder to read for me because the wording is just so huge I can't get into it. Knowing our library, they won't have it.

[glow=purple,2,300]aw.. you have one of those libraries... well, if worse comes to worst i'd send you my copy (though it's pretty worn out lol) if you've got a bookstore near you they should definitely have it though, it is a bestseller after all.[/glow]

I will have to go down there. I need a new library card anyways. Mine is too old and has a wrong address on it and my signature isn't the same. Well, we used to be a kind of a small town but we got a casino and now we're a lot bigger. So the library is getting better by the day it seems but it's also all the way downtown (on the opposite side of town where I live) so I rarely get down there now.

Memoirs of a Geisha was definitely a good read. My mom liked it too, so we might end up seeing it over the holidays.

It is one of the most entrancing books I have ever read. I thought it may have been one of those books that is long and boring but because everyone seems to have read it you better had kinda ones. I couldn't have been more wrong. I'm so glad I have read it now because I desperately want to see the movie. It is truely a beautiful book. Lets hope the film does it justice.

the movie is now out on DVD but I still have yet to get it. has anyone seen it yet? i heard that it was good and even better if you've read the book since you'd understand it all better or something. i'm really looking foward to comparing and contrasting the two.

I saw the movie and I am actually in the proecess of reading the book. My sister got me a gift certificate to Borders and so I bought Geisha and Pride and Prejudice. Anyhow, from what I've read so far in the book....which admittedly isn't much......the movie just doesn't do it justice. As a film, it is fine....not extremely great, but definitely artistic. However, I think it was kind of a disappointment.

I read the book and was really dissappointed in the movie, they left out some of the most important parts of the book. The book was definetely a must read. It captures the life of a Geisha most perfectly. The movie however makes it only into a love story rather than capturing the wonderous aspects of what the book was really about. If you have not read the book, then the movie is good, but it really lets ya down if you've already read the book. I don't think the movie even comes close to doing it justice.

Like with most movies based on books... the book was better in my opinion but the movie wasn't bad. Just when the movie was starting I found myself comparing the two and I had to remind myself that it's a movie and it's not going to be just like the book. I enjoyed the movie but if given the time I'd probably read the book again over watching the movie.
