I received one for Christmas. I've been transferring my CDs to my computer and plugging them into the player. (It's going to be awhile before I get all of these in Who here owns an MP3 player? ...and what kind do you have? If you don't have one - which one would you like to get. If you don't want one... how come?

I've got the i-pod mini.......it doesn't hold as much as I'd like it to (only about 1500 songs), but for now it suits my purposes just fine. I can't really complain, seeing as I bought it right after the mini was discontinued and so it was half-priced brand new with a pretty good warranty. I would love to get either the 30 GB video i-pod or one of the ZUNE things from microsoft, which I doubt I'll get either anytime soon. As I said, the mini suits my purposes for now. Besides, the thing I'm saving my money for is a new car (crosses fingers and hopes for enough for a good one), so an mp3 player can wait

good call! an Mp3 player can definitely come after the car. i considered getting an i-pod and zune but settled for the Creative Zen Vision M instead (with the strong suggestion from the friend who bought me the player).
Do you strictly only rip from CDs or do you download music as well?

I believe I have a Sony one, but the software it came with wouldn't install on my computer, so I can't transfer my music onto it. I just use it for voice recordings, radio, and some games it came installed with.

I just don't do MP3 players. I don't really know why, they've just never appealed to me. That, and I can just play songs in my head, so I can keep myself amused that way, haha.

Brandie, Do you know why the software won't install? I do like the voice recorder feature in the mp3 player - should come in handy when the semester starts up. Dan, It's cool - different strokes for different folks.

I have an iriver. It fits a fairly good amount of music - 20gb. Some people are surprised I have it because I'm so old school ... I used the walkman forever but you know how much freaking music I have. I walk to work so it's great for that.

I dunno why it wont work. I've tried it many, many times, and still nothing. But even if I could get it to work, I'd still be buying cds like crazy. I mean, my parents know I love cds, yet they bought me an MP3 player two years ago on Christmas...

My parents bought a laptop last night, so I was able to get my MP3 player to work! But the memory absolutely sucks though. My parents were like "We're gonna get one with a lot of memory." but when I put songs on it last night, it only fit 120 something. That makes me mad.

Well that's cool that you got it working. I've been using mine to record my psychology lectures. I've also been recording myself read (and my friends) readings for my Composition 2 class. I find that it helps me more when I listen to a story after reading it myself.
Ah the walkman... I remember those! I remember spending hours picking and choosing and recording different songs on the radio, cds, and tapes so I can listen to them on the cassette.

Back when I started to gather songs, I got a few Creative Zen players, I eventually gave up on them when I got myself a phone that does the same.
