It's 2:38AM and I can't seem to go back to sleep. So here I am online trying to make my eyes tired.
So here goes a poll as I am curious to see your take on sleep.
How many hours do you sleep on average? What do you do when you can't go to sleep? Do you consider yourself and light or heavy sleeper?

usually get about 6 at LEAST. If I don't get enough, I get [more] tired. I'm a light sleeper.

I can't ever seem to sleep. I think it's because my mind keeps running even if I'm dead tired. I'd say I get like 4 hours of sleep on good days I get 6 but mostly around 4. I'm a light sleeper. When I can't sleep I usually put on the CD you gave me...that doesn't work sometimes though, and I just lay there thinking.

I am a light sleeper. My truck turns off and shuts off while I am sleeping, every two hours almost on the dot it makes a loud beeeeeeeeping noise for about 15 seconds and then starts, when it starts the truck shakes which causes all of the things on the back of my truck to rattle, in turn waking me up. The truck runs for about an hour, then it shuts off, and when it shuts off it shakes which causes the stuff on the back of my truck to rattle, waking me up. Long story short, I don't get much sleep when I am out on the road. When I am home, the silence keeps me asleep all night. When I can't seem to get to sleep, usually the only thing that helps is focusing on something for about an hour, then my eyes start to dry out and I get tired, then my mind can rest long enough to go back to sleep.

I'm a bit of an insomniac. It's rare that I can make myself fall asleep before at least 3 AM. Most nights, I fall asleep between 3 and 5, then I'm generally up for classes and/or work by about 8:30/9. So, yeah, I don't sleep much.

For me... I try to at least get 6
...anything less than 5 hours throws my day off and if it doesn't then it will completely affect how I function during the later days of the week - my need for naps increase (and it makes me feel awfule after waking up after a nap).
Is it like that for any of you when it comes to naps?
For me, when I wake up from a nap I usually wake up with a headache/pressure where it feels like I'm about to have a nosebleed.

When I wake up from a nap, I feel thirsty and tired. Actually I just woke up from a nap and I still feel a little tired and I drank like half a gallon of water. But in the long run, it always makes me feel better, never get the feeling of nosebleed or anything though.

I sleep around at least 7/8 hours. I need my beauty sleep, otherwise I get cranky. xD

My insomnia's gotten a bit better over the years, but I still only average 4-6 hours of sleep at most. When I'm stressed though, I'm lucky to get an hour's nap in.

About 6 but if I'm tired, can snooze much longer. I find myself taking short naps late in the afternoon more often...kind of feel like a kid haha.

So it's 9:07PM and I am genuinely sleepy. My concern is, if I go to bed now... chances are I will wake up 5AM or earlier. I guess I could be productive that early... but I don't know. Still debating with myself.

I would like to have 8 hours of sleep but that doesn't always happen. Sometimes I work in the evening and sometimes I work in the day time. Sometimes I'll work one evening and have to turn right around and work the very next morning. It depends on how they make out the schedule. I'm lucky to get 4 hours of sleep on those nights.
What about everyone else? Have you had to work late and turn around and get up early the next morning?

I usually get around 7 hours, but sometimes I get a little bit more. When I can't fall asleep, I'm usually on my phone, which I realize probably doesn't help me get to sleep. Once I usually fall asleep, I sleep pretty well and it's difficult to wake me up.

My work schedule is pretty nice in a sense where it's relatively consistent as far as time. I go in at 9AM and get home about 9:30PM Thursday-Saturday. The times where my sleep schedule is thrown off is when I'm off. You know how that goes. lol

I have to have atleast 8 hours of sleep before I can continue with the rest of my day. If I have any less, I feel tired and less motivated especially during my job.

I've worked out my schedule enough that I now get 8 hours nearly every day, sometimes 9.

I average about 7 hours sometimes less, sometimes more. Whatever I get I seem to be able to handle it well.

I rarely get the recommended 8 hours, but I try to get as much rest as I can. I'm a pretty light sleeper and a lot of times I can't go back to sleep once I've been woken up, so that, and the fact that my brain is really on top of waking me up at the same time every day, regardless of what time I fall asleep, can really mess me up sometimes.

Not enough, unfortunately. My biggest problem is my phone because I end up watching a few shows, browsing social media, and then listening to some music. By the time I fall asleep, it's a bit too late.

I checked 8+ hours. However, I'm in bed longer. It takes me awhile to fall asleep then if I wake up, to get back to sleep. What helps me is keeping a set schedule of when I go to bed & get up. Have you tried herbs? Valerian is a great one, you just have to get past the smell Also don't underestimate the foods we eat. If I eat too much sugar, it can keep me up. I don't eat 2 hours minimum before bedtime; meats take longer to digest. The body needs time to digest that food & if it works on that, it can't work on calming the mind to get a restful sleep. I focus on my breathing & imagine each body part melting into the bed. It truly does help!

I hate that my new hours have cut my sleep down to 6-7 during the week, I can't bring myself to get to bed sooner.
