a/n: This is the poem I posted for the poetry contesty thingy. I just wanted to post it in here also.
Your emotionless words managed to always hang in the air like a fog that choked the breath from my very lungs and crumbled the walls I had built around that ice cold block I called a heart at one point.
Reality kicks and scratches at the doors and breaks the windows and paints the world a darker shade- maybe a nice slate grey or midnight black.
And those damn rose colored glasses and that perfectly fit cuff- Adding to your class can't help you now, if your stained undershirt and wine soaked breath give you away every time.
That "bang the sweetest piece of ass that looks in my direction" outlook on life got old after they stopped looking. And when those "sign-me-up- for-that-ride" eyes stopped catching their attention, it didn't do so well to think you were god's gift to the women of that trashy night club.
And suddenly, my heart didn't seem so bad to you, when you realised it was the only one that had the rythme you liked to hear.

"and breaks the windows and paints the world a darker shade- maybe a nice slate grey"
--I really liked this part ... nicely worded. I thought the first stanza would have been better not so brief (the cut lines didn't work for that stanza, in my opinion). The last part was interesting, different idea, I liked it.
