[glow=black,2,300] "One of two things happens when you meet your hero. Either they are a complete ass-hole or they're just like you." - This line from the move "Imaginary Heroes" inspired this poem. If you haven't seen this movie, I would definitely suggest it. It's one of my favorites. This one is for you, Laura. Imaginary Heroesthe pedestal is crashing an idol failing [not what i expected] showing signs of weakness supposed to be stronger [admirations falter] aspiring to be you or the you i used to see [first impressions lying] imaginary hero not so extraordinary [just like me] - Writers block is a killer. This is the only poem I've written in a little while and only because I was semi-inspired after watching "Imaginary Heroes" for like the 100th time. Suggestions welcomed - [/glow]

Oh I'm so glad you posted this. I haven't seen the movie. I adored how this was written ... it makes all the sense in the world. It's truthful and honest. I know I'm about to quote most of it: " supposed to be stronger
[admirations falter]
aspiring to be you or the you i used to see
[first impressions lying]
imaginary hero not so extraordinary
[just like me]" --firstly, "admirations falter" is an incredible line. The idea of first impressions being a lie ... so true. I can see many people relating to this. Lastly, the very end about a hero not being extraordinary is a great image. It's kind of sad thinking that our heros are usually no hero at all, but this was greatly written. Sometimes, during our self-proclaimed writer's block, we write the most amazing things in others eyes. I've noticed this when I post something I wrote during a time of doubt and people seem to always like it more ... strange, but true. Looking back at some of your earlier posted poems, you've grown a lot during the last year. I'm so glad to see a progress in writers and I also think highly of writers who make me think.

excellent concept. I love it. I have not seen that movie though I want to...
I really like this part... its something I have been trying to tell my sister who idolizes all celebrities... they really aren't "so extraordinary".
"imaginary hero not so extraordinary
[just like me]"
