[glow=black,2,300]This is actually a poem I wrote in September of 2001, after the WTC were hit. Its not my best work by any means, though it was one that I had to write for fear of bottling it all up inside. Also, some of my views have changed since I wrote this, but I would like to share it anyway.
That day is something
everyone will remember
The scene still tragic
once burning hot and ember
Our lives have changed
forevermore
Those who were clueless
are no longer poor
The news is infected
with truth and lies
Tears are falling
from the skies
Whether black or white
big or small
We've joined together
through it all
Our friends have helped
by giving us hope
Our entire nation
is trying to cope
Attempts have failed
to get it all back
Terrorists think
our nation will crack
But I know better
for we are strong
It's going to be tough,
its going to be long
Though its not over
as terrorism may never be
There's still hope for the future
for you and me
We are the children
learning to live
in a world full of taking
no one willing to give
Our souls shall be guided
our spirites strong
as the world around us
sings a hateful song
We will win this war
even if we must fight
We will win this war
if it takes all our might
We will make it through
our souls guided by love
For the angels all watching
from high up above
Mourning deeply
for loved ones we've lost
Those hateful people
shall die for the cost
If terrorists think
that they've got us beat.
Then they'll be surprised
when they're knocked off their feet
Thousands are lost
from this dreadful fight
All because of jelousy
and dont forget fright
I now leave you here
with a bit on your mind
How must we deal
with this hateful kind?
As I said, this was written in September of 2001 sometime soon after the 11th. I was in the beginning of my 8th grade year when it happened and so I would have been around 13 years old when I wrote this. Any comments are appreciated, though I am fully aware that there are some format errors and such from my earlier writing style. [/glow]
