Hey all! I'm Dan, and I'm from Winnipeg, Canada (oh, the Prairies). I like playing guitar and writing lyrics. I also play rugby and ultimate frisbee. I'm going into university in the fall. I've only been here a few moments, but this seems like an awesome haven for all artists, and thanks to all the organizers for putting it together!

Hey there! I have both an electric and an acoustic, but I usually play the electric. This site seems very cool, and a nice home on the web.

That's pretty cool, hope you get it back soon! I'm not all that good yet. I could be, but I don't practice as much as I should. I've played a couple shows though (one with a band, one solo), which was an absolute blast! What kind of music do you like to play?

Ooh, random chords make up the bulk of my improvisation and that, and then I memorize them and play them over and over till it makes my entire family sick. Well, not quite. But other than that, I play some power chordy stuff and some laid back music. I've tried to learn jazz and some stuff with hardcore solos, but my short stubby fingers seem to be preventing my moving-ahead with that :S.

Oh Canada Our home and native land True patriot love In all thy son's command
With glowing hearts We see the rise The true north strong and free
From far and wide, O Canada We stand on guard for thee!
God keep our land Glorious and free
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
...
Anyway, it's usually nice here. Gets kinda chilly in the winter though.
"words for the wise: what you didnt have when you go into an LA public restroom, you contract before you leave! never sit on the seat and bring your own tp! "
Haha, as a rule I tend to avoid public washrooms :S.

Northern Idaho, eh? What's up there...? Although, Idaho's close enough to the Rockies to get the chinook effect every once in awhile, I believe. Here in Winnipeg, we have no relief, as in snow from October to March, or even into April or early May if we're really lucky.
"I think I like your song better than ours!"
Yeah, I like it better too (no bias there). Especially because yours was written while we Canadians were ransacking Washington in the War of 1812, hehe. But it's all good now...I think.
"glad to have you here as you are quite fun to play word games/challenges with and you've got some great songs."
Thank you very much! Your work is excellent as well, and you've got some clever games up your sleeve in the word games section!

Last summer we actually had snow at our house until July... I hated, its why i moved south "Yeah, I like it better too (no bias there). I don't really pay attention to the whole history behind the history, especially since history depends on who it writing it...

Last summer I think we had a snowfall in August.

Excellent point, but I think it's recognized, except in American schools, that Canada won that war. Although we weren't Canada yet.

the funny thing about that is... American textbooks tell a slightly different story... America doesnt like to admit that they are capable of losing wars trust me... if it were at all possible I would move to Mexico and never look back... As it is, the job for "international man of mystery" is already filled America isnt that bad... I am just sick of the "we are better than everyone else in this world" atitude that Americans have been exhibiting lately...

"As it is, the job for "international man of mystery" is already filled"
Ah, but aren't you the international woman of mystery? Or in this case, the international woman of history?
"the funny thing about that is... American textbooks tell a slightly different story..."
Canadian textbooks could be lying and I'd be none the wiser. Which is scary. Imagine starting a literal war over someone lying about history. That's the interesting thing, you never know who's right. Very Orwellian.
"if it were at all possible I would move to Mexico and never look back"
I dunno, I think Mexico's been trying to flex their muscle on the world stage. The sad thing is I don't know if I'm being sarcastic or not.
"I am just sick of the "we are better than everyone else in this world" atitude that Americans have been exhibiting lately... "
Yeah, in Canada, we have the "we may not be better than everyone else, but the U.S. sucks" mentality. That's not necessarily a bad mentality, but most of these people are just on the bandwagon, and have no real substance. I don't hate Americans as people, I just hate Republicans lol. Not that the Democrats are much different, they're just the wolf in sheep's clothing. I'm just kidding, some of my best friends are Marxist, but I also have a few good friends who are conservatives. In my opinion, anyone who thinks they're better than anyone else is probably: a) wrong, and b) a jerk. Am I ever rambling. It's kinda sad. Who'd have thought my introductory message would come to this?

LOL how ironic... "Canadian textbooks could be lying and I'd be none the wiser. Which is scary. Imagine starting a literal war over someone lying about history. That's the interesting thing, you never know who's right. Very Orwellian." I think American Textbooks have a higher probability of lying to us... but thats my opinion It is strange how this came together just from your intro I think I started it though so its all good...

I think American Textbooks have a higher probability of lying to us... but thats my opinion I'd say so too, but you never know. Yeah, I definitely love how this is one of the longest intro threads (if not the longest). Makes me feel special .
