Gray clouds hid the moon and stars
Darkening her life, like shadows in the night, lurking around every bend
She stared out her window as she waited for the storm to cease
The rain pounding hard against the window
The glass shook as each bolt of lightening struck
She wished that the glass would shatter
She wished the pain would end yet she did nothing
Horrid memories, dreadful tears
Thoughts occurred, thoughts of death
She was a wretched mortal
The demons of the night had declared
All the faith and hope, now drained from her
She survived each day but only in a daze, hardly a reality
She closed her eyes the flashbacks awaited her action
The knife she held in her hand sliced through her skin as she squeezed
A deep cut, not even close to the scar left in her mind
The insanity had taken over her, had driven the sanity away
Love for her was only that which could be experienced through a dream
A dream that never came, one that she had longed for since birth
God refused to answer her prayers
Who could save her now? , No one, No one could save her
It was far too late to change the fate she had chosen
As she made her way into the hall she paused to look into the mirror
An emptiness lay in her soul, one that couldn’t be filled
Bloodshot were her eyes, pale was her skin
The drops of crimson collected in a puddle beside her
That she thought is the only thing that has ever been close to me
She opened the door and stepped out into the world that had become a prison
She looked up at the twilight sky; frightened she almost changed her mind
She found courage that had been hidden deep w/in
A lightening bolt followed in her footsteps, always close behind
As though a signal, sign…. warning?
Concentrating on the courage she had discovered, she raised the knife to the sky as an offering
Nothing had changed; she pulled the knife down, the tip of the blade slowly cutting into her skin
The blade penetrated her thin skin and wounded her heart
She could feel nothing; after all, she was still numb
The lightening ended, she opened her eyes yet nothing grew brighter, only blackness lies ahead
She gazed into a black tear that turned a black rose into a crimson drop of blood
She smiled, the insane smile, and laughed as though it all was a joke, yet it wasn’t
Realizing this moments later, her eyes began to dart, then finally surrounded by a charcoal smoke, demons arose from the floor
Thinking it was all a dream she paid no mind, until she couldn’t breathe
Suffocating, she was to be hanged, then and there
The knife was pulled from her chest, as she died more w/ every passing second
Then, silence fell, and a chill swept through the room as she became sole demon, that of which she had been terrified of since the first sight of one
Her worse fear had come true and it was all her fault
She carried the weight of the blame for the entirety of her eternal life
Never did she forgive herself
Never did she forgive “them”<br>
An evil, Earth dwelling, soul trader was what she had become
Only herself to blame
Loss of her dignity, loss of her soul, loss of her heart
She had chosen the terrible fate as though they would listen to her pleading
And that, had been her most fatal mistake dead as she was, the afterlife had become a shadow of her past
