PTO or Paid Time Off - how often do you take yours? Do you take it a couple or few days off at a time or do you like to save them and take a whole week or two off?

Usually, I take a whole week off at Easter, a whole week in August, and a whole week at Christmas. The rest is just odd days off here and there, for a variety of reasons (mostly seeing my girlfriend ).

I usually take the week of my birthday off in March and then save my 2nd week for September or the beginning of October to get a break before the insanity of the holidays.

Not to brag, but my job gives me 15 days from the start, which I can carry over 10 in my next year anniversary. Since I started in the middle of covid, it was easy to carry over the 10 days to get 25, so I just keep using 15 and carry over 10. Plus they just gave everyone an additional floating holiday PTO day, so now we have 16 a year to use.

We get PTO on an accrual basis so for every month that we work we earn a PTO day. We're allowed to roll over up to 5 days to the new year.

It's pretty good, but I had a former co-worker at Staples be there for like ten years and got a crazy amount of PTO, he can take like two months off with all he has.

I prefer to use it all up at once so that I get a nice, extended break from work. I try to time it with some bank holidays as well which allows me to get around a month off

Nice, but what about the other months of the year?

Got to rely on bank holidays for the rest of the year. It's just way better for me to have a longer period of time off than having a couple of days off every month

I wouldn't mind trying it but I feel like I never want to go back to work.
