When some artists get a bit more popular and start getting played on the radio, some fans complain that they've gone "mainstream" which might lead them to changing up their style and type of songs they created.
Has anyone here ever thought that about an artist?

I can't think of any artist I felt this way about. I know for "mainstream" artists they have a record label to answer to so I imagine that has a lot to do with it. When you have to juggle tours and deadlines I can understand the pressure on delivering product and how that could change.

Honestly, I'm happy for a band or artist that I love getting more recognition. The way I see it, music evolves over time, even for a single artist. If it doesn't, then what's the point?

Can't think of any that come to mind, it sounds like people don't like them being popular really.

G-Eazy is a good example. Personally, I love that he became more popular but I know a lot of people on his YouTube videos always like to comment that they preferred the "old" G-Eazy. His music style did change a bit so I guess that is why.
