This one was mostly written at work, i was at the food court when the store was really slow so i started to write on the back of some napkins. I'm not sure how i feel about it yet, but i figured i would post it to get some imput.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As one chapter of my life closes I find the beginning of the end To be a time of destruction Instead of construction.
I feel an obligation To burn bridges, Destroy connections To all whom i know and love.
And so begins my reign of chaos But as I watch the bridges burn in flames I enjoy the fire, it calms me. I am suddenly halted
From amidst the rubble and the wreckage She appears, and i see her eyes "Why?" she asks "Must you be the Catalyst to your own demise?"
I could see her pain and her fear It hit me then, like a stone I was to fall from my godly throne My pedestal of flames and hate
I had to fix all my wrongs I had to change the past. I should be the protagonist in my story Shouldn't i?
Instead of burning bridges I should build them Reinforce them Care for them
But how does one undue whats been done How does one fix the present How, but more importantly why For her. That's why.
I know i cant have her, but she can still save me can't she? can't she? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
An interesting poem. It is a very good metaphor for the bonds shared between people. One thing I like about this poem is its' ability to make me think about relations between people. All people have the ability to create bonds, or bridges in this case, with others, and they are just as capable of destroying them. How people decide to design, create, maintain, or destroy these bridges is up to them. What I see in the poem is an internal conflict happening in a person. One part of that person wishes to destroy, and the other wishes to create. The part that wants to destroy holds some kind of dislike to the current bridges that are shared, while the part that wants to create is reminded of all the good things that have come of the bridges, such as the girl in the poem, and for that reasons that part wishes to keep the bridges.
