Do you like your local library? How often do you visit?

We have a small library nearby. It's got a nice selection for the size. I haven't really been by it much as of late due to the hours and capacity being changed with covid.

Though I do like my local library, I don't visit often. I used to visit on a weekly basis for a new book or magazine to read, but haven't in the past few years. Covid did make it difficult to decide if I should go back, as the library was being flaky on how they remained open. They kept switching between limited numbers, and not even allowing people to come in. The issue with that and where I live, is that we do not have a huge population, and we haven't had any big spikes with Covid. Now with it being open to full capacity, I haven't decided to get back into the swing of visiting it yet.

I always love the library. Years ago, I would visit it twice a week. Always getting out books & magazines. The occasional movie. As much as I like some technology, one thing that made the library worse is there’s no interaction. At our old one, the people knew me & would always have my books ready as soon as they saw me. We chitchatted about little things. Now, you go to the bookcase, look for your name, go to the scanner & scan your card & the books. No Hello how are you’s. Rarely even talk to anybody. I miss that social connection. So now, the library doesn’t have the same feel for me so I don’t go that often anymore.

My local library is very tiny as I live in a beachside community and we kind of just have a satellite branch. The larger branch is about a 25-minute drive away so if I'm running other errands, I will stop in there but it isn't as often as I'd like. I also have a bad habit of forgetting due dates and end up constantly owing late fees. I just remind myself I'm supporting an important service by paying them. lol

I love my local library! I loan books there about every other month (then I spend the time in between each loan actually reading the books), and I love to sit there in order to get some work done. Also, I have to brag a little about my local library, because it looks amazing

That is a very beautiful library. Kudos to your government/local council for funding that because over here, libraries just don't seem to get as much support, unfortunately.
Our local library may have to close/move away due to a block of flats that may be built on that plot of land.

Our county is - ta-da! - the one with the highest percentage of its population possessing a local library card in the entire United States. 93% of the residents have one - so we have a pretty extensive library system. There are three branches within a couple of miles of my house...and within an hour or so, there's Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore and The Library of Congress in D.C.
