www.lyricskeeper.com/hanson-lyrics/213545-lula_belle-lyrics.htmJust Not BelleStill elegant, she's all dolled up in her worst and people rush to the sides to clear room for this tall lady. Counting down from ten to one, her long strides reek of winter cold, but now she feels the body heat. Remembering the time when a king seemed hers to keep the others bow down in fear, maybe of her clipped-short fingernails, or skin falling off the bone. Her hair is still in tact, they notice, and it hangs full of stories. She's a near death experience (you've got to know it) now that summer's over and she's broken. I wonder why anyone clings on these days. Stepping now, this woman would speak, if her teeth were still there if her mouth would still open. She could lecture them and maybe apologize for causing all this fear. They need not be scared anymore of her face on the hall of fame it should be over now. She's so used to open spaces but the corners are closing in now and all over she feels the frame.

"her clipped-short fingernails, or skin falling off the bone."
and
"now that summer's over and she's broken.
I wonder why anyone clings on these days."
--were really excellent. This was just okay for me ... sometimes I got lost or confused and it didn't flow the way it wanted to, I feel. The words are put together nicely but put all the sentences together and it doesn't mesh.
