she let go of San Francisco without a regret the still water about to wave, - oh she knew and ran like hell, she did
one morning, with a cup of coffee between her hands in the back of an old coffee shop she read her heart aloud: "I'll always be gold and silver, with the snow and rain I'll always be gold and silver, with no hand to hold"
she was thrown around quite a bit her bad days were bruises on hungry children and a smile would be asking too much from someone too greedy to give one out
I saw her driving, down the coast line somewhere in BC the windows slightly rolled down to catch the air drifting in and out of the smoked filled car it was circulating so quickly with her slow breathing
one slip on the curved railed mountainside and goodbye '88, you were a bad year anyway with a vintage wheel still spinning in her mind singing upside down: "I'll always be just gold and silver"
I saw her taking off her seatbelt talking I said: "girl, you gotta dream"
and she nodded decisively and conclusively came out of that burning car in the snow
at home in the computer room she printed out a landscape one large wall of a picture, like a Scotland hill far and away and she knew if she jumped on through it she would be there whispering: "I'll always be just gold and silver"
with a match and a soggy cigarette, she opened her eyelids the coffee shop has never smelt so stale but it was San Francisco after all and she said,
she said:
"yeah, girl. You gotta dream"

........I liked those lines best. Nice job.

I love that first line! It's the kind of line that I could say over and over and never get tired of hearing it.
"with a match and a soggy cigarette, she opened her eyelids the coffee shop has never smelt so stale but it was San Francisco after all and she said,
she said:
"yeah, girl. You gotta dream"'
But I'd have to say that was my favorite part. I really like this one, it's a favorite.
