I tend to type most things because I type a lot faster than I write. However, there is something about taking the time to handwrite in a journal or notebook for example, that makes me really focus on what I'm writing. It's so easy for me to get distracted when writing in a word doc for instance. For quick ideas, I tend to note them using my phone.
How about you?

I definitely prefer handwritten. When I am writing academically (I’ve just started back in school working toward a business degree), I use the computer because it’s just easier/quicker for editing purposes. Anything else, I hand write. I’ve got stacks and stacks of composition notebooks for that very purpose. I like them because they’re super cheap and though I tend to fill them quickly, they are flexible and durable enough I can carry them with me for whenever inspiration strikes.

That’s awesome that you’re going back to school for business. What school have you decided to go to? Are you going for associates or bachelors? I totally understand what you mean about composition books being cheap and durable! Every year the stores get me around back to school time because notebooks can cost as little as $0.25!

I'm just taking some online courses through my local community college. For now, it's just an associate's, but I have the option to transfer for a bachelor's. Work is footing the bill so we'll see. I'm only taking one class at a time for now because I do work so much and want to ease myself back into it. I don't want to go back to the original college experience I had where I was working 80+ hour weeks and taking a full course load. Composition books are like my favorite thing. I scoop up as many as I can during back-to-school season and then grab them whenever I see them on sale throughout the year. It's kind of a problem.

I can definitely relate to that problem! I've gotten better in recent years but there was a time that office/school supplies was a serious addiction. hahaha

my hand writing is messy so I rather go digital. I can completely relate! With the number of pens and writing utensils I have you would think that I'd have decent penmanship, but I don't. lol

This discussion makes me really curious about what everyone's handwriting looks like. Hmm? Perhaps a new post idea. . . .

I have to agree with others here. While I love writing, I am thankful for the digital technology. My mind tends to go faster than I can write so my handwriting can get sloppy. I devised my own shorthand but even that can throw me for a loop at times lol I have 26 Word Files that are organized. I've kept a diary since 1990. I prefer digital because you can edit, delete, rearrange as needed. I can't tell you how many times I started a hand-written letter to a penpal back in the day & had to start over! I do however have pen & paper all over the house to jot down notes & then later on I organize them in Word.

If there is one reason I stick to using PCs is because my handwriting is junk, sometimes I can't read what I write lol. So I much rather type, even if I can't type as fast as I used to

Yeah, I've never had particularly nice handwriting. It's sufficient, but a bit all over the place and I'm not a very quick writer, either. Even with the keyboard, I seem to be a lot slower than anyone else I talk to, but it's still faster and easier than trying to write out anything wordy by hand for me (plus my computer/phone lets me know when I've misspelled something).

So much the spell check, I'm a bad speller and need it for the life of me.

I've noticed that when I write down something, it's a lot easier for me to remember it which is quite important for uni works.

I lucked out and only had to hand in typed up papers for my college days, I think it's because teachers didn't want to read all the different styles.

I type on my laptop. However, when I am on go and something strikes me, I take notes on my phone. Sometimes, I even build outlines on my phone. I have not used a pen for a long time, except to sign checks. LOL
