The fall finale was a few weeks ago and the back 9 episodes don't air until April, so I'm going through a bit of Glee withdrawal. (Even with my copy of Season 1, Vol 1: Road to Sectionals DVD, and Volumes 1 & 2 soundtracks).
At first, I thought it was going to be totally corny/stupid, but then I watched the pilot episode and absolutely fell in love. The fact that I'm kind of in love with musicals/Broadway probably helps that along. Seriously though, beyond the singing/dancing aspect of the show, there's some pretty great stuff happening - teen pregnancy, love triangles galore, high school drama, familial ties being tested (and all acted in a believable, at times funny, other times heartwrenching ways)
FOX definitely picked the perfect cast to make this show a success. I mean, c'mon - Lea Michele is AMAZING as Rachel. As a Broadway star, I would expect nothing less than greatness in a role like this, and she so delivers. And Jane Lynch as sadistic cheerleading coach, Sue Sylvester? Fucking brilliant (pardon my French).
Plus, they have had some fantastic guest stars. It was awesome enough to see Josh Groban as a total cougar-hunter in one of the earlier episodes, but to have Kristin Chenoweth just shoots Glee to the top of my awesomeness meter.
The back 9, based on what's been revealed so far, are going to be awesome too. Kristin Chenoweth is coming back for at least one, if not more episodes, Jonathan Groff is joining the cast as the rival glee club's star and Rachel's love interest. And IDINA MENZEL is joining the cast as the rival glee clubs coach (and possibly Rachel's biological mother - oh how I wish the rumor true).
Okay, anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else was as obsessed with this show as I have become these past few months. My obsession probably has to do with the fact that they are featuring my favorite Broadway stars, but it is still an awesome and unique show.
Opinions?
