[glow=black,2,300] This was a piece done today in creative writing class. We were given a few minutes to write a poem on someone who inspires us. I chose to write about Sylvia Plath. This is addressed to her, because she is one of my favorite writers/poets.
To Sylvia
Writer of emotion, singer of dreams Rise from the ashes, ripped at the seams Your words an inspiration A heart splattered on the page Oh, dear broken poet, the voice of an age. Shine, shattered dreamer, in your life after death. Live, fallen lover long after last breath. Fly, my inspirer; Leave it all behind. Life was a conundrum; I ache at the find. Sleep dear writer, you deserve the rest. Honoured, dear poet, you were the best.
- Not my greatest, but for like two minutes about someone I admire, it works. Plus, I've barely written anything recently, so.....yeah. [/glow]

Nonsense this isn't great! I really liked this:
"Rise from the ashes, ripped at the seams"
and your rhymed flowed so elegantly too. Also, these:
"Oh, dear broken poet, the voice of an age"
--lovely
"Sleep dear writer, you deserve the rest"
--really good lines. I loved this but maybe I just find it inspiring that you have written a poem so beautifully that I can believe you actually adore the poet behind it. Excellent!

I also really liked that. I'm actually doing an assignment on her poem "Mirror" and I can really see how you captured the emotions displayed in that poem in yours.
"Your words an inspiration A heart splattered on the page"
These were real good lines. Keep up the good work, A+!

I really like it... I was never able to come up with anything this good for class, somehow always got writers block when it was assigned to me...
