Do you have any favorite independent films? What I mean by this... movies that aren't commercially driven.

If you can consider it independent, there was this movie from a few years back called Goodbye Lenin. It's in German with English subtitles, pretty funny movie. How about you, Sharon, any favourites?

I'm not positive if it's considered independent, but the movie Imaginary Heroes is effing amazing. One of my all time favorites. A more recent one would be The Painted Veil, based on a book - makes me cry every time. Yeah, that's right, I'm a cryer when it comes to movies/books.
Yeah, Sharon, any faves?

To be honest I haven't come across any of those - but will definitely keep an eye out.
I've only recently really taken an interest in looking into the "genre" - I've never really paid any attention to the different categories that movies are placed in, kind of always had a go-with-the-flow attitude with movies. ...most of the time placed initial judgment on whether or not to see a movie on if it was recommended by someone else or if I recognized and actors/actresses in it.
I've seen "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" in that category - I really enjoyed that movie.

I've never seen MBFGW, but I've heard it's pretty good. I should see it, though, since Nia Vardalos is from my city...
