[glow=purple,2,300]With technology growing EVERY day and the advances it's making just to make things "convenient" many people out there simply TYPE everything. The post office is hardly used for regular mail anymore. it's all just bills, advertisements, more bills, etc... because of the wonderfully CONVENIENT system we all know as Electronic Mail (email) as if you didn't know that lol
anyway, so i was wondering... as a writer... whether you write stories/poetry/songs etc... do you actually "write" things down or do you simply open up microsoft word (or any other word processor) and type away?[/glow]

Depends where I am. I use both. I have a lot of typed material because I can simply get my thoughts down faster because I type faster than I write. Then, I will not lose what I want to say.
I like the finished product better when it's handwritten because it makes it more ... I don't know ... it makes it feel like you put more effort. But, I do use both. If I'm downstairs, I will use the computer but usually if I'm in my room, I'll write. When I write on paper and then transfer it to the computer (say to post it here) I usually end up revising a lot. I don't know why.
Ah well, I ramble.

Yeah, that's exactly what I find. I really like to write things on paper first, after I've let some ideas ferment in my head, and then I just revise a lot as I'm typing it. At least that's for my lyrics. If it's an assignment or an essay or something, I just have my main ideas and that written down, and then I just give 'er.

I have a journal, and sometimes I write my feelings in that. I also write some shorter stories in that. Sometimes I just write a couple lines on a piece of paper, or a drawing, so I won't forget it later.
I also like writing letters, but I don't have anyone to write a letter to. Any takers? Heh.

Oh, I can barely read my own writing, but I still like to send people letters. It is more personal than email and junk.

Too bad some of you don't have scanners, you should scan something with your handwriting on it, that would be neat to see

Yes. It's interesting to see others handwriting. I will scan mine sometime but my writing changes with moods and how fast I need to write things down.
Maybe I'll post an original poem sometime that's scanned heh. I'd buy you a scanner, but I just don't have that kind of cash to give away. I'm trying to save but I keep buying CDs.

It depends on where I am. Since I don't carry a computer around, most of the time I'll just scribble a thought or two on paper. I prefer typing up my stuff when it's done. (That for poetry)
For my stories, I prefer computer all the way. It's easier to read, and I type fast.
