[glow=black,2,300] This is a poem that I wrote for my AP English class. We had to write a poem about our home town, as Whitman did for New York. Anyhow...this is called "This Little City Of Mine", about the very small...small town I live in.With almost an entire block worth of town, A hardware store, a Dollar General, and a Yellow Goose. This little city of mine is thriving.
With the daily hustle and bustle of average folk, Tending their farms, milking their cows, feeding their chickens and pigs, This little city of mine is moving.
With barbecues of envious proportions, And drunken reunions at one of the neighborhood bars, This little city of mine is jumping.
With bonfires and parties, on warm summer evenings, Old friends gathering for a good time. This little city of mine is laughing.
With lazy days, not a care in the world. Stars twinkling merrily, unobstructed by harsh lights. This little city of mine is sleeping.
With residents to die for, making everyday an adventure. And crazy old neighbors, living in a house full of cats. This little city of mine is smiling.
With all of the good things, and all of the bad. The boredom and the memories. The snowstorms, and the sun. this little city of mine is home. [/glow]

It was a sweet poem. I live in a fairly small town and I always wanted to leave but now that I'm a bit older, it's just home. I can't picture living anywhere else. This was my favourite:
"With barbecues of envious proportions, And drunken reunions at one of the neighborhood bars, This little city of mine is jumping. "
--along with the last stanza. Nicely done ;D
