...a concept I've wanted to try but still have yet to do so...
Have you ever written the ending of a story before writing the beginning or the middle?
I've started writing the middle of a story then ending it - then writing the beginning but I've never started at the end.

I've actually done this before. In my creative writing class, one of our assignments was to write a story completely in flashback, so instead of just writing about a past event like most people did, I wrote a storyfrom end to beginning. The timeline actually went backwards for a bit and then jumped to the beginning to connect it all. If I can find it, I'll post it.
It was insanely difficult to write, but it was interesting none-the-les. I love trying to "Tarentino" it, as I like to say.

Usually when I think of a story idea, I think of the ending before the beginning, but I don't think I've ever actually written it like that.

I'm writing a story for my friends and myself and the only bit I have planned are characetrs pasts and the climax. Mainly because the characters are my friends and early on in the story I say only 3 people will survive so I had to ask my friends if they were okay with me killing them off.
