Ok, so I prefer to listen to music etc, while writing, do any of you prefer to do the same. I find that the Beatles are just right for my type of writing.

Yeah, I pretty much always listen to music while writing. Except at school... I get alot of ideas and write alot at school, but of course we can't listen to music there...
I like to listen to songs that are maybe about the same topic, or have the same mood as what I'm writing. It kinda helps.

i don't usually write while listening to music because i tend to get distracted and start listening to the lyrics of the song. unless it's all instrumental, like classical music, or jazz maybe.

Yeah, I posted a post like this before somewhere ... I stated there what I like to listen to. I'll go find that post and modify this........ - Tori Amos
- Emm Gryner
- Tantric
- Ani DiFranco (I swear a lot of poets I know listen to her just because she's incredible)
- Heather Nova
- Pearl Jam (it's hard to write to them because I end up just listening or singing ... but when I get in the right mood, they're actually quite inspirational)
- Sarah Slean
- Collective Soul (usually puts me in a good mood)
- new additions:
- PJ Harvey
- Soil

I usually can't pull it off, at least when I'm being creative. I can listen while I'm doing homework, but since I'm a songwriter and need to have concentration with my own beat, it's pretty difficult.

The other night I was writing. I wrote a poem, half of another one, and was finishing some other ones, and I was listening to music... I was listening to The Fray and Pearl Jam.
I think it kinda helped me a little...

I listen to a lot of what most people would call "depressing" music, I think it kind of feeds the mood of most of my poetry. I'll listen to a lot of Staind, Pearl Jam, Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Nirvana. I like classical music as well, it just relaxes me and certainly sets a good mood for writing.

In the story I write for my friends and myself I listen to music that fits thatscene. Like when a character is having a revelation about their past or thinking about the past I have a song about regret. I also have particuler songs I assosiate with particuler characters.
But especilly in a sad scene, I turn the lights off put sad music and actually get myself sad.

I also like to listen to music while writing. Although, I like to listen to music while doing just about anything. In any case, I would say both music and my writings reflect as well as direct my mood.
