I've heard that using one of these makes graphic designing a whole lot easier (and more enjoyable). Just wondering if anyone here uses it and if they'd absolutely recommend investing in one.

Yes, yes, yes! I hve had one for years and it speeds the process plus you have control over drawing and can easily change stuff pixel by pixel without the clumsy mouse.
(makes playing games really fast!)
I have the medium size that cost about $385 or so. You have to watch out for elbow and neck pain as it should be set up correctly...I have been using mine in my lap which is not good..but there is no good system for a drawing board and a keyboard. You might have to improvise.
I tried out the large one with the screen actually on the tablet but found I liked it better seeing the cursor on the screen. There was no hand blocking the image.
I have been doing digital graphics since 1999 and couldn't live without it. There are programs that use the pressure sensitivity to great advantage. I have been using Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8 (started with5) because it was cheap and cheerful.
Good luck, Spiritcat

cool thanks for your input! i've been considering getting one to use at home and work since a majority of my time is spent on the computer.
I was looking at the small 4x5 tablet - which is fairly affordable and it seem to have good reviews. I was wondering though is there a drastic difference between the 4x5 and the 6x8? (besides size and price?)
I'd probably start with the smaller one since is more comfortable for my budget. Besides, even though I love graphic designing - I don't really do any freehand (yeah that's definitely not my area) yeah... I'm still debating.
