[glow=purple,2,300]Hey! Sharon here... I am 17. I like to write poetry mostly, and love music. I've always wanted to build my own website with a current flow of visitors. I've started many but I could never follow through with them because I never really had a concrete idea of the theme of the website. Serene Distraction came up in my head one day when I came across the question "why do people write poetry?" The answer that came to mind was:
I think we choose to write poetry because it is our way of expressing ourselves. Those who don't write poetry choose to sing or play or plainly verbally express how they feel. We write poetry because it's another way of communicating. I think people who read poetry are people who are looking for a distraction. To me poetry is like... a friend, a televison set, a radio, a computer... it's a distraction, a companion. Poetry is like a tylenol, advil, or aspirin... it's sort of a temporary pain reliever, for the soul.
So that is how I came up with "Serene Distraction" I believe that people create art because it is their way of temporarily distracting themselves from the harshness of reality. (or just boredom lol) I've spent about 3 hours now working on the site and forum, and I'm having a great time, I really hope that this idea will be a success.
Eventhough, yes, I am the creator of this establishment, please do not let that intimidate you in any way. I am dead normal and I am willing to chat with anyone, and any comments, questions, or suggestions are absolutely welcome!
So now that you've taken the time to read about me, if you haven't already, please feel free to introduce yourself.
