This is just a small story I wrote a couple of days ago. I'm not turning it into anything unless people really like it. Otherwise, that's it.

Bits of weathered rubble fell into the sandy dunes below as Raiku Mesradazzi passed through a demolished structure. As he entered the wreckage a large chunk of rock snapped off of the building right above him. With his enhanced reflexes, he raised his blue gem-embedded staff and summoned the magic within. A blue aura encircled him and the rock impacted. As he battled the immediate pressure, his long cyan-colored hair flew upward and his black tunic and dragonscale leggings were sailing, as if a gust of wind had struck him. With a sweep of his staff, he sent the rock flying, landing into the sand with a dull thud. A small cloud of sand replied.
Of course, that was a display of basic magic, one that is Master had taught him early in his training. The only reason he was here was to avenge him...
"Zachairre!"
Raiku hardly had time to invoke the defensive magic once more to thwart the lightning spell that bounded toward him. The defensive spell was such simple magic, it needed no words to activate; but more powerful ones required incantation.
"Well, I'm glad you decided to join me here" said a misty female voice. A slender figure emerged from the shadows. Her long crimson hair reflected the sunlight as did her blood-red outfit.
"What do you want from me so badly that you made me come all the way out here?" Raiku demanded.
"Want?" the mysterious woman asked. "It's not a mere matter of wanting. It's a necessity!" she boomed as she raised her yellow gem-encrusted staff.
"Zachairre!"
A pure bolt of lightning sped toward Raiku, but this time he rolled to the side to avoid the attack.
"What do you need from me then?" Raiku yelled.
"What else do you have, with your Master gone? I need that staff of yours! For without it, victory is but a mere dream!"
"Gicheirre!"
Raiku sent a lance of ice at the woman, but she used her own defensive spell. The ice melted away as the two forces connected.
"Still on the first page of the spellbooks, hon'?" the woman teased. "Try to keep up!"
"Kensage!"
There was a flash of light as a bird formed as if from thin air. Only this bird was lightning-yellow and sparks resonated from its wings.
"Attack the boy, my creature!" the woman shouted.
It's a lognshot, Raiku thought, but...
"Sesuken!"
A flash of blue light illuminated the area, then nothing.
Damn! thought Raiku. Looks like I need to practice that one a bit more.
Raiku tried to invoke the defensive magic, but to no avail. The bird was already upon him. Raiku could do nothing but scream in agony as it sent shockwaves throughout his body. He crumpled to the sandy ground in a heap. His vision began to blur. He could hear nothing except "shame"....."staff will make a lovely"....."Master will"....."hope"....."die with extreme suffering".....
Raiku knew no more.
