The angel’s promise was enough to get the young girl killed. The seemingly heavenly being had vowed to protect little Laura and to be her guardian angel. Laura was a young, defenseless child of six. Her guardian angel had come to her aid late one night when Laura’s father had yet again become drunk and violent. Laura’s father was an alcoholic and a naturally aggressive man, drinking only made the problem become even worse. Huddled in the corner of the living room was little Laura, half hiding behind the couch. Her mother was working late again; recently it had become quite common. The subject of divorce had been brought up early that morning moments before Laura’s mother, Kate, had headed off to work for the day. Soon after Kate left, Keith, Laura’s father, had run down to the liquor store in town to stock up on vodka as he often did before going on a rampage. By dusk he had already drunk a little over ¾ of the bottle, having forgotten to feed little Laura for the third day in a row. He then passed out for several hours; meanwhile Laura had fallen asleep having been tired since the midnight quarrels between her mother and father had kept her awake the night before. A loud shattering sound awoke Laura. Keith had thrown something at the TV. and when Laura opened her eyes she saw Rascal, the family dog’s, baseball rolling away from the destroyed TV. Immediately after she had come to her senses Laura scurried into the corner, hoping to be hidden well enough. Little Laura couldn’t understand what it was that she had done so wrong to deserve this, thinking she could reverse whatever misbehavior had made this lifestyle become her fate and prayed that would be enough to make everything come to an end. Moments later little Laura’s guardian angel had come to her rescue, promising to keep her safe and out of harm’s way. She felt relieved but was a tad bit leery of letting the matter of life and death rest in the hands of her guardian angel, but then again the angel did work for God, maybe her desperate prayers for peace had finally been answered. Laura had been too preoccupied thinking to grab Rascal and pull him into the corner with her. But as Laura heard Rascal yelp she realized her mistake. Keith had kicked him, and continued to kick the dog in between his ribs until blood began to stream from open wounds. The poor dog lay there in the middle of the room, motionless. Laura’s eyes filled with tears and her heart sank lower in her chest, burdened by guilt and grief, but she knew this might be the only chance she had to attempt to call her mother for help and maybe then Rascal could be saved. What would she do if he died? He was her only friend. Laura ran into the kitchen and snatched the cordless phone from off the top of the counter. Laura then sank behind the counter that was almost completely covered in dirty dishes and dialed her mother’s cell phone number. Laura begged and pleaded for her mother to come home from work early and save her and Rascal but Kate explained that she couldn’t leave because she needed the money to keep the old Chevy truck from being repossessed. Laura hung up and crawled over to Rascal as Keith turned to go rest in the recliner... to be continued

Laura's Deceiving Angel (Part 2)
She was disappointed and let down, her mother didn't care about her anymore than Keith and now the only loving friend Laura had was dead, poor Rascal lay on the floor, now stiff and cold. Laura sobbed, forgeting to be silent so as not to awaken her intoxicated father. Laura held the black lab close to her and let her tears soak into his soft fur. As she let go and turned to go back to her hiding place she saw Keith glaring at her with that look in his eyes, the evil look. The look that Keith had in his eyes signaled that he was about to beat her and his rage was growing. Keith held a belt in one hand and his other hand rested over his hunting knife concealed within its case. Maybe, she thought, Rascal's death had been her omen, after all he was black and there was that old saying.... She blocked the thoughts and tried her best to calm herself. Surely Keith wouldn't kill her, besides she had a guardian angel watching over her. Hard as she try however, her ever calming thoughts could not stop the fear and the evil grin growing on Keiths face from increasing. Keith took several steps toward Laura and he grabbed her arm, twisting and slapping it with the leather belt as Laura squirmed, tears flowing from her eyes.
"Please, Daddy please don't," Laura begged, "Please not again.....I love you."
The only thing Laura received in return was a cold blank stare with flashes of evil. He grabbed her other arm with the same hand and twisted them both at the same time continuing to use the belt to create slashes on her tender skin. Keith paused while tears continued to stream down little Laura's cheeks.
"Please Daddy, please......" Laura pleaded.
Blood ran down her arms. Then almost as if he had stopped to rest for a moment he resumed the beatings, Laura quickly gave up, thinking to herself that it was okay her guardian angel would protect her. Keith noticed little Laura had ceased to squirm so he left her arms go. She tried to run but before she was able to escape Keith hit her legs, blood began to seep into the carpet as Laura lay on the floor. Keith pulled out his hunting knife and Laura was frozen in shock and was unable to move due to the numerous cuts. Laura couldn't get away. Keith sliced open little Laura's cheek and as she screamed he began to yell at her.
" I hate you! You're nothing but a demon child! You ruined everything between your mother and I! Now its your turn to pay, I'm sending you to hell where you belong." Keith shouted.
Laura couldn't make sense of anything still frozen by fear and in shock. She didn't understand why her father was so angry, and had become so enraged that he was on the verge of killing her, his own daughter. Laura looked over to where her guardian angel had been earlier as the angel slowly morphed into an angel of death. Deception, Laura had been deceived by the looks and words. To poor little Laura the sight was horrifying. A shredded black dress hung over the deceiving angel's ghostly pale body and her eyes were as black as coal, flaming red circles around the edge of the iris, she now looked as though she were a skeleton. Before little innocent Laura could call out to her soul seeking angel Keith plunged the hunting knife into her chest. In Laura's last breath she asked the angel "why?"her voice that of only a whisper. A single fading tear slid down her sliced cheek. Keith couldn't see the angel but he felt a prescense, none of it mattered to him now though for he had gotten rid of his problem. Finally, Laura's spirit emerged from her lifeless body and floated towards heaven's pearly gates. Yet, as always, the escape was just out of her reach, and happiness once more escaped little Laura's grasp. The angel of death captured her soul and condemned it to hell, life's unltimate inferno. There, in hell, poor little Laura would relive her harsh and brutal death even in her afterlife. Laura's innocent soul was punished because she had put her fate in the hands of that deceiving angel and had reached out for help. Her innocent soul was now lost to the demons that had haunted her throughout her life because of a simple mistake, a moment where she had let her guard down. Laura was lost forever and her soul would never return to Earth. Justice, in this case, had failed her yet again and she was paying the ultimate price. She was trapped once more, without an escape. Laura owed this torment to the deceiving angel and her wicked ways.
