Once there was a man who lived in a village near a mountain. Every once and a while he would take a trip into the mountains deep wooded forest on the same path. But one day he had to take a detour when a tree was down in his way. Feeling like he could still take his route if he went around the tree, he took the detour. But he started to get the feeling as if something was wrong and decided to head back when he spotted a young boy.
“What is wrong?” The traveler asked him. “My younger brother is sickly ill and we haven’t enough money to buy his medicine from the medic man.” Feeling the need to help him, the traveler handed the young man a pouch of money from his savings and was on his way once again.
The traveler then came to another stop when he saw a poor man on the way back to his village. “What is wrong?” The traveler asked the man. “I haven’t any shoes on my feet and they ache from stepping on twigs all day.” Feeling the need to help, the traveler gave the poor man the shoes of his feet and once again he was on his way back to the village.
The traveler heard a sneeze in the back and turned to see a young girl naked and cold. “Here.” The traveler said. He gave the young women the clothes off his back. “Thank you!” The young girl replied with happiness and sent the traveler on his way through the woods naked and all.
A few minutes later he came to a den of wolves. “Ah?” The traveler said in a confused voice. “Well, well, well.” The wolves said. “We are hungry and you happened to wonder down into our den.” Feeling sorry for the wolves he allowed them to eat his body but the wolves ate his eyes along with it. Before the wolves left, they gave him a gift and said, “here, a gift from us to you.” “Thank you for this gift!” The traveler said, “no one has ever gave me a gift before and even though I can’t see it, I am very grateful!”<br> Laughing, the wolves left the bodiless head there on the ground.
The travel would unfortunately never know that the gift was a ripped piece of paper that said, “FOOL,” because he died before anyone found him.
